THE BLUE TRAIN CHESS CLUB

No major happenings, happening at the Blue Train but with the club starting to hit double figures, plans are afoot to introduce "Refreshments" during the evening to make things a little more "Social".

One notable event is that on Sunday the 26th May, the club is hosting the "Rongotea Chess Club" in a friendly match-up of 5-6 boards with players playing 2 games against each other with opposite colours.    A day the club is looking forward to, with host Chris Evans, planning a mini sumptuous lunch for all involved.

KAPITI CHESS CLUB

Last week saw the conclusion of the 1st Series of the Leo Eicholtz Trophy with Club Champion Gordon Lyall and David Paul sharing the lead with 7pts from 8 games.  Ross Jackson followed in 3rd with new member Neels du Plessis showing his class with a good fourth placing.

The Annual Rapid tournament is taking place on 25th May with entries being taken up to on the day.  See their web site above for details
