Greetings Chess Lovers, to the Kapiti Coast Chess Blog. Catch up with what is happening on the Kapiti Coast and see how the regions best players play, plus tips on how to improve your game and much more.....
The Blue Train Chess Club met for only the 2nd time last week and despite the bad weather, 4 new faces turned up to play chess.
The club is focusing on attracting players of all ages who want to learn or improve their current level/knowledge and whilst in its growth stage, Chris Evans, owner of the Blue Train is keen to support the endeavour.
A recent game played by Alan Winfield in an internet tournament produced a nice finish. Playing white against his opponent from India, Alan played a very aggressive line in the London system and though it is normal to castle and get your king into safety, occasionally (if the centre is kept closed) you can keep pressure on by leaving it in the middle.
