MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL AND I HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH EVERYONE AT THIS FESTIVE TIME OF THE YEAR

Last Tuesday we had our annual Prize Giving (See Issue 11 Dec 18 for list of Prize Winners) and afterwards our New Club Champion - Gordon Lyall, continued our tradition of the club champion taking on the club in a Simultaneous match.

Needess to say everyone had a great time with plenty of food and refreshments provided by all.

This issue really is about celebrating the achievements of the players but before you start browsing at all the "Photo's" a quick reminder for those who were there and a update for those that were not.

It was announced to all that the club will no longer be playing at the Library and from next year we will be using the Lower Hall at the Salvation Army District Hall at 41 Bluegum Road PARAPARAUMU BEACH.

The club used these premises about 10 years ago which offers plenty of room for growth in membership, excellent facilities and parking as well as storage for the club equipment.

The main drawback however is that we will be playing on Wednesday nights as this is the only night available.   We hope this does not cause too much of a problem for you all, though understand one or two members do have clashes with other events.

First night after the break will be Wed 23 Jan 2019.  I will be in attendance from 7.00pm to 8.00pm for anyone who wishes to get their juices pumping again.   AGM Wed 20 Feb 2019.   New Playing Calendar will be published in the New Year.

Any queries please contact me on 0276 337 228.

So until "Next Year" I wish you all well and look forward to an exciting year of chess ahead.   Thank you to all committee and club members for their support throughout the year and in particular to Lars, for running the Club Championships so successfully.

The last word must be the clubs endearing gratitude to one we recently lost - Rose. We will always think of her and be forever in her debt for the service she gave. Our love and best wishes to Zoe at this special time of the year.
